Lenin's Birthday!

Discuss your political beliefs, simple as that.

Once again I wonder if you have a sense of humour!

Why? Because I don't subscribe to your notion of humour?

Because you don't seem to subscribe to any notion of humour, apart from that of enjoying the degradation of others.

Mmmm, sounds a little like Lenin!

Considering you don't know me, I do not think you're in a position to make this judgement.

Exhume his corpse and have it hanged. If you ever have children, you will derire this manner of celebrating Lenin's birthday.

Don't challenge the party line. They'll send you to the gulag.

You don't need to exhume his body. If I remember rightly his corpse was embalmed and is still displayed in public!

On the subject of robbing peasants, do you mean that the temporary dissolution of the free market and optional collectivization of farms was robbing the peasants? The Czars had done worse things than the original Bolsheviks did. War Communism was the Soviet answer to total war, except with every resource, not just war materiel.

Lol, you actually make productive topics. And how is it the answer to total war? Total war against what enemy? The bourgeousie?

Thanks for being sensible and productive man.

Well, yeah. The Russian Civil War was not fought so much against other Russians as it was fought against the Western Expeditionary Forced sent there to stop the communists.

I dislike Lenin. Mainly because he wrote this article:

Yeah, my contacts in the Communist Party sent me that book, along with a bunch of Marx's stuff. I myself am a democratic socialist, with some communist tendencies, so I didn't really like that work much either. I think that Lenin was missing the fact that solidarity is needed on the Left, lest those who wish to profit from our blood divide us further and crush all of our efforts, no matter how moderate or extreme they are.

Why? This is a discussion forum, so elaborate. The hanging part, that is.

It was Hitler's birthday on 20th April, conveniently also my very own birthday so easy enough to remember. Also born on 20th April was Napoleon III. Dictator's day! Although I don't really agree with any of them I respect their capacity for tactical and incredibly sneaky thinking.

April 20th is also Marijuana Day for a reason I don't know.

They were both also unusually short. Someone said to me that 'evil' people are short. So I said 'As Osama Bin Laden is 6ft 6 does he calss as 'evil'?

I am amazed that you can regard Lenin a good man. He sacrificed too much to have the revolution early - if the Mensheviks had had their way, the war had continued, etc, the extreme measures, such as War Communism, would not have been needed. Russia would be ready for more sustainable leaps forwards, not black and white, everything or nothing approaches. By the way, I'm going on what I've read in a GCSE textbook, so I probably don't have much knowledge to help me decide :P

That's better than what we have over here in Canada, if that's what you got from school alone! He was rather radical, and I agree that violence is detrimental to the Revolution, but I think that he was key in projecting the ideas of Socialism around the world.
