I think that it all depends on the people.
Certain groups of people respond differently to different leader types.

Obviously, you don't recognize whence the true power in a school comes.

Why else would schools put so much emphasis on lunkheads who spend their time running after orange or brown spheroids, and ditzes who scream towards them how to do it?

flexibility - being able to read people, understand them even if they are not like you,
and get them to follow you

being open-minded, kind, and lacking ego also help - that is if you want to
be a positive leader

if you want to be negative, embrace the darkside and manipulate stupid people

I think it depends on what they are leading. (i.e. If they are leading a rebellion, then they have to be confident, determined, and brave. If the person is leading a group of people doing a project, they have to be disciplined, firm, and fair.) And also some of what was listed before this post.

I think that good leaders need to be intelligent, so that they don't make uneducated decisions. I also agree that charisma is a good quality, because a leader is nothing without the support of his/her people.

Manipulation- you have to be able o get the people to do your bidding, but without noticing...

I would call that a gift for persuasion.

It's a little of both.
The perfect balance is getting the other person to do
something because they think they want to, rather than
you wanting them to.
